Micro cars (segment "A") are dying in Russia
Three leaders among mini cars in the Russian market are the following - Daewoo Matiz, KIA Picanto and Lifan Smily. In connection with the change of brand Daewoo to Rawon the leader in the segment, model Matiz, perhaps, in the long run will leave the Russian market. The following year the company "UzAvto" plans to begin the shipping of a new model Ravon R2, which is similar to Chevrolet Spark. Mini car Ravon R2 is likely to be more expensive than "Matiz" and its fate in the market is not clear.
According to the director of the agency "AUTOSTAT", Sergey Tselikov, in the current market situation, the prospects of the segment of micro cars in Russia is very weak. "In connection with the devaluation of the ruble value of compact cars (segment "B") has fallen to the level of 6-10 thousand dollars. And it is practically impossible to produce a small car that meets all modern requirements for environmental and safety cheaper than 5-6 thousand dollars", - says Sergey Tselikov.
