OREANDA-NEWS. October 09, 2015. Kaliningrad plant "Avtotor" started the mass production of trucks Ford, President of "Avtotor Holding", Valery Draganov, informed the agency "Interfax". Earlier it was reported that "Avtotor" intended to launch the mass production of Ford trucks together with Turkey's Ford Otosan. The memorandum of understanding, signed by the company at the end of 2014, said that the plan provides SKD-assembly of some models of Ford trucks.

Chairman of the Board of "Avtotor Holding", Valery Gorbunov, noted that the production capacity of the plant allow them to produce not less than 15 000 commercial vehicles per a year. In the future, it is planned to increase investment in the project through the establishment of facilities for welding and painting.

Mr.Draganov also said that the company is still negotiating with a number of companies that could replace the American carmaker GM, which stopped earlier the production in the Kaliningrad region. "We are now starting to discuss the basic details," - he said. But the top manager did not specify when they can complete such negotiations, and he did not give the names of specific companies, by saying only that they are several and they are well known.
