OREANDA-NEWS. October 09, 2015. Today’s enterprises are looking to move more production workloads to the cloud to achieve business agility, improve application performance and control costs. According to Cisco’s Cloud Index, over three-quarters (78%) of all workloads will be in the cloud by 2018. However, many organizations must work with a range of tools, technologies and data security concerns when expanding their private IT platform to include the flexible advantages that public cloud can provide.

Together, Equinix and Nimbo are reducing the complexity and risk of cloud enablement with two new solutions that streamline Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud deployments within Equinix data centers. The AWS Direct Connect Converged Infrastructure bundles and Equinix Cloud Exchange enablement solutions will be available in all Equinix International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centers that offer AWS Direct Connect or Equinix Cloud Exchange, providing peak performance for customers moving to AWS.

AWS Direct Connect Converged Infrastructure Bundles

Enterprises can leverage the AWS Direct Connect Converged Infrastructure bundles to use the same storage and network management tools as they do in their private deployments when migrating to public or hybrid architectures. They can connect their familiar, private infrastructures to AWS and receive the crucial security, performance and control they need, while benefiting from direct, secure access to the public cloud.

Included in the Converged Infrastructure bundles are:

Enterprises locating their IT infrastructure inside the same Equinix data center as the AWS Direct Connect access node receive the highest level of security, performance and control, enabling them to fully leverage the flexible options that hybrid cloud provides.

Equinix Cloud Exchange Configuration and Foundation Enablement Services

Equinix and Nimbo will also provide Equinix Cloud Exchange configuration and foundation enablement services, either as part of the Equinix Cloud Exchange Starter-Kit or as individual, stand-alone offerings. The Equinix Cloud Exchange Configuration Package provides enterprises with configuration and testing services to a supported cloud service provider, such as AWS, along with the Equinix Cloud Exchange. This delivers a turnkey cloud connection, an immediately useable cloud account, and a seamless extension to cloud services for corporate resources.

According to Hal Bennett, general manager global technology partners, Amazon Web Services, Inc., “As long-time members of the APN, Equinix and Nimbo are helping customers realize the benefits of the AWS Cloud – whether in public or hybrid deployment models. With the introduction of these new solutions and Direct Connect Bundles, Equinix and Nimbo support customers selecting hybrid cloud deployments on their journey to the cloud.”

Since 2011, when Equinix announced its AWS Direct Connection availability in select data centers, enterprise adoption of AWS has been tremendous. In 2014 alone, Equinix experienced a 90% increase in the number of enterprise connections to AWS. The acquisition of Nimbo has allowed Equinix to develop integrated deployment tools to ease the setup and configuration of networking and cloud-based storage for AWS.

Equinix and Nimbo will be attending this week’s AWS re:Invent conference and showcasing the Equinix Cloud Exchange enablement services. Equinix will be in booth 930 and Nimbo in booth 1031.
