Now that enterprise cloud adoption is on a roll, with 93% of IT professionals reporting that they are using the cloud for their applications and IT service delivery, the big question on many IT and applications managers’ minds is: “How can I get to the cloud faster?”

In more than 21 global markets, the Equinix Cloud Exchange has been helping enterprises answer that question. The Cloud Exchange brings together cloud service providers (CSPs) and users, allowing them to establish affordable, secure, one-to-many virtual direct connections to multiple leading cloud services, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and others. Equinix has expanded its support for AWS throughout its worldwide data centers by offering AWS Direct Connect in nine locations: Frankfurt, London, Osaka, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia. The most recent location, Osaka, is the fourth Equinix facility in Asia-Pacific to offer AWS Direct Connect. Equinix customers in these nine metros experience lower network costs as they turn AWS up or down, depending on their needs, and take advantage of reduced AWS Direct Connect data transfer rates.

AWS and other cloud customers can now get access to hybrid and multi-clouds faster via the Cloud Exchange with two service offerings that make the move to cloud incredibly easy. Equinix and Nimbo are working together to deliver Equinix Cloud Exchange configuration and foundation enablement services, either as part of the Equinix Cloud Exchange Starter-Kit or as individual, stand-alone offerings.

The Equinix Cloud Exchange Configuration Package provides enterprises with configuration and testing services to one supported CSP (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google and others), along with the customer router(s) attached to the Equinix Cloud Exchange. This package provides a turnkey cloud connection, an immediately useable cloud account and a seamless extension to cloud services for corporate resources.

The Cloud Exchange Foundation Package bundles Nimbo’s Equinix Cloud Exchange configuration services with premium service offerings in:

  • Configuring CSP accounts, subscriptions, etc.
  • Using core containers to present a foundation for a cloud infrastructure and provide a technical home to Infrastructure-as-a-Service elements, such as AWS VPC
  • Cloud networking and security configuration

This package enables companies to design and build a functional and secure starter environment in a single cloud provider, resulting in a fully functional hybrid cloud platform where you can grow.

These two bundled services enable cloud consumers to quickly begin leveraging cloud services to grow their businesses more quickly. The recent acquisition of Nimbo by Equinix provides enterprises with a rich hybrid and multi-cloud professional services team that that they can tap into for migrating their IT infrastructure service delivery and applications to the cloud.
