OREANDA-NEWS. On Saturday, October 3, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Andrii Pivovarsky participated in a ceremony to launch a new regional express train service on Chernivtsi-Lviv route.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk noted that the new train service is triggered due to the efforts of Minister of Infrastructure and the Ukrzaliznytsia.

This train affords to cut the journey from Chernivtsi to Lviv by two hours – from 5.5 to 3.5 hours. According to the Prime Minister, the fare is UAH 134, which is even slightly lower than in the route taxi, taking about 7 hours.

"Comfort, the new quality and speed is what we have achieved in the transport sector," he said.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that the endeavours of the new leadership of the Ukrzaliznytsia and the Minister of Infrastructure entailed an increased flows of investments: "An overall investment plan of the Ukrzaliznytsia made up UAH 2.4 billion. We’ll allot 1 billion hryvnias by the end of the current year. This billion will be spent for the construction of a railroad bed, repair of the existing fleet and the purchase of diesel trains".

The Head of Government stressed that the diesel train, which will circulate along the Chernivtsi-Lviv-Chernivtsi route, had been manufactured by the Kryukovsky Railway Car Building Works: “The plant used to work for Russia. Russia has closed the markets. But our market capacity is so high, we need hundreds of such cars, we need to renew our park."

"The task I set was to find money to invest in the transport sector. And this process has moved off the starting block. This means new jobs at the Kryukovsky Works, taxes, economic growth. This means that the reforms are underway and Ukraine is changing," Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed.
