BNY Mellon Officially Opens New Corporate Headquarters
OREANDA-NEWS. BNY Mellon has officially opened its new corporate headquarters at 225 Liberty Street in New York City. Gerald Hassell, chairman and chief executive officer of BNY Mellon, was joined by employees and members of the company’s executive committee at a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on September 29.
The new headquarters has been designed to meet rigorous LEED certification standards, which denotes best-in-class building design, strategies and practices, to reduce resource use and lessen the company’s carbon footprint. Some of the LEED features that will be at 225 Liberty include daylight harvesting lighting systems, daylit workstations, regionally-produced and recycled building materials, improved air quality and ergonomic furniture.
“The sale of One Wall Street and consolidation of office space in New York City was part of a broader effort to streamline operations and deliver a solid financial gain to the company,” said Hassell. “It also allows BNY Mellon to provide its employees a more modern, functional and efficient work environment.
“Our corporate headquarters has caught up with the company we’ve become – it’s fresh, modern, sophisticated, innovative and collaborative,” Hassell added. “It will certainly help reinforce our brand and vision for our company. We won’t need to tell our visitors what kind of company we are; they will experience it firsthand.”
225 Liberty Street is part of Brookfield Place, a complex of office buildings located across West Street from the One World Trade Center in lower Manhattan.
