ITOCHU Corporation will invite approximately 240 students of Brazilian schools in Japan to KidZania Tokyo
In 2014, ITOCHU donated sets of 100 children’s books selected by the ITOCHU Foundation to ten Brazilian schools in Japan, and accepted 25 students for workplace visits at its Tokyo headquarters. This year, to mark the 120th anniversary of exchanges between Japan and Brazil, ITOCHU will further expand the scope of these activities. ITOCHU will invite approximately 240 students from six Brazilian elementary and junior high schools in Japan which operate under the jurisdiction of the Consulate-General of Brazil in Tokyo to KidZania Tokyo, which ITOCHU officially sponsors, providing the students with opportunities to experience different aspects of work and society. ITOCHU will also invite the family members of ITOCHU Group employees and outside visitors invited through the official ITOCHU Corporation Facebook page to take part in the same event. By holding a Brazil-themed event at the venue, ITOCHU also aims to facilitate cultural exchanges between Brazilian and Japanese children.
At the same time, 33 students from one of the six invited schools will visit the Tokyo headquarters of ITOCHU before the KidZania event, where they will be given an overview of ITOCHU’s business activities related to Brazil and engage in exchanges with employees.
Through the workplace visit and occupational and social experiences at KidZania, the event aims to deepen understanding of work and society on the part of Brazilian students in Japan and in turn foster positive attitudes to work. Moving forward, ITOCHU will continue to actively support the sound development of youth based on its corporate philosophy of Committed to the Global Good.
