Emirate of Dubai and RWE Middle East engage in closer collaboration
At the end of September, the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and RWE Middle East signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement lays the foundation for closer collaboration on management services and technical consultation.
The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy is the energy policy decision-making body of the Dubai Government. RWE Middle East is already providing expert advice on numerous projects in the Emirate. For instance, RWE Middle East is helping Dubai develop its Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 and also advising the Emirate on technical issues of energy supply and other topics like the development and implementation of a strategic programme to reduce energy consumption.
This is also an area with key points for future consulting activities in the Middle East region, where energy consumption is growing at the rate of five percent per annum.
His Excellency Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Energy, on signing the MoU took the opportunity to praise the outstanding expertise of RWE: “We are pleased to sign the MoU with a global energy organisation. RWE Middle East was involved in developing the Demand Side Management Strategy, and is currently supporting the Supreme Council in updating the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030.”
Pierre Samaties, CEO of RWE Middle East said: “The Memorandum of Understanding is further proof of our strong and successful relationship with the Emirate of Dubai. RWE has become a firm fixture in the region and we see this MoE as strengthening our position as a trusted partner for future projects.”
