OREANDA-NEWS. October 02, 2015. Walmart Foundation has granted \\$31,519 to Feed the Children, Inc. through the Foundation’s State Giving Program to assist with providing meals for thousands of children across Oklahoma.

Specifically, the grant will be used to purchase meals not reimbursed by the USDA and also to offset Summer Feeding Program personnel costs.

“We are excited to provide nourishing meals to thousands of children at risk of going hungry during the summer months,” said Travis Arnold, interim CEO/president and COO of Feed the Children. “There is a massive gap between school feeding programs and summer feeding programs, but thanks to the Walmart Foundation Grant, we will help close that gap and ensure kids are continuing to grow, dream and learn during the summer.”

In fiscal year 2014, Feed the Children and their partners distributed \\$265 million in food, educational supplies, medicine and other necessities impacting close to nine million individuals in the U.S.

“Walmart, and the Walmart Foundation, understand organizations such as Feed the Children are essential to building stronger communities. They share our values and are committed to helping those in need in the communities we serve,” said Rodney Walker, Walmart vice president and regional general manager. “Through this grant, we hope residents in this area will feel a positive effect, and through that effect our impact will be expanded.”

The Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program supports organizations that create opportunities so people can live better, awarding grants that have a long-lasting, positive impact on communities across the U.S.
