OREANDA-NEWS. Moldova requested the mission of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), on a visit to Chisinau on 28 September - 09 October, to include the regional industrial infrastructure in its investment agenda. Deputy Economics Minister Vitalie Iurcu addressed this request at a meeting with IFAD experts.

In 2015, IFAD completes the implementation of its 6th financing programme in Moldova, which lasted for five years. With the Fund's support, which provided in whole 14 million dollars, rural enterprises developed their infrastructure to cultivate, store and sell agricultural products.

The officials addressed the country programme for the next 5 years, as well as the setting of key areas for the financing of next investment programmes. Iurcu requested to be included in IFAD investments agenda the financing of projects on regional road and industrial infrastructure, irrigation, agricultural businesses.

IFAD Mission showed interest in the proposal of the Economics Ministry.

The mentioned fund is a UN specialised organisation and has as goal to eradicate poverty and starvation in rural areas in developing countries. IFAD provides direct financing by offering loans and grants on easy term, as well as it attracts co-financing resources in order to implement projects and programmes launched by it.
