OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2015. Arkady Dvorkovich, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Volkov, Head of the Republic of Mordovia, and Anatoly Chubais, Chairman of the Executive Board of RUSNANO, have opened the 12th RUSNANO nanotechnology center in Saransk.

The mission of the nanocenter is to commercialize innovative technologies, create start-ups and develop them into successful high-tech business ventures. By the time the center has been launched its Board of Directors has already approved 49 projects within the center’s focus areas: power electronics, modern lightening engineering, instrumentation technology, construction nanomaterials.

The total budget of the new center is RUB 1.97 bln with RUB 1.15 bln invested by the RUSNANO Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs. The nanotechnology center and its portfolio companies have created 65 workplaces for highly qualified specialists. In 2014 their tax contributions to the budget amounted to RUB 18.3 mln.

During the open ceremony the first batch of boards for silicon carbide (SiC) superefficient inverters was produced. These inverters are expected to be used in creation of a high capacity power accumulation system for private households in Russia which is rechargeable from both mains and solar power. The project is implemented on the basis of RUSNANO nanotechnology centers. The new center will be focused on joint production of SiC inverters and components with Russian companies and foreign partners. Many world leading companies, including Tesla, the US Company, are currently working on creation of these batteries.

Nanocenter Projects

Multifunctional Coating

Fluoropolymer paints, varnishes and coatings provide excellent water and corrosion resistance and are in high demand in metal structures protection, including construction field. They can be also used in cold and wet climatic conditions. Fluoropolymer coatings are applied to drill pipes and screwed pipe joints to ensure protection from corrosion and abrasive wear.

The coatings produced at the center show high strength, high duration and are 2-4 times cheaper than comparable products.

Flexible Light Sources

The project involves launching of an international R&D center for new printed light sources and related projects development: luminophore coatings for light canvas printing, conductive ink for light sources components and light emission parameters remote control system (light intensity and brightness).

Nanodetonation in Equipment Cleaning

The project is aimed at creating a clean-in-place technology for production units, containers and utilities to clean grease, dirt and corrosion by nanodetonantion. The new technology disintegrates the deposits into sand and removes them undissolved from the equipment which helps to save on subsequent disposal. The technology is environmentally safe and could cause no damage to equipment. Nanodetoneation cleaning is designed for heat-exchange equipment, heating and water supply systems, cooling units, ventilator boxes, boilers and water heaters.

Diamond-Like Coated Scalpels

These scalpels are used in maxillofacial and plastic surgery. The diamond-like coating is applied to the blade making it smoother. This technology helps to minimize tissue damage and reduce post-surgery recovery period.
