New airline to operate to Vilnius Airport
Vueling has already launched ticket sales for the first flights starting from the end of June in 2016 - a ticket from Vilnius to Barcelona will cost from EUR 49.99. It is planned that the flights will be operated once a week – on Wednesdays. The plane will take off from Barcelona before midnight at 11:30 p.m.; it will rise from the capital of Lithuania at 4 a.m.
“It is yet another noticeable achievement in our pursuit of route expansion. The attempts made by Lithuanian Airports are appreciated by air carriers, while new airlines discover us as a potential partner. We hope that Vueling will not limit with a single route and expand its operations in Lithuania in the future,” said Art?ras Stankevi?ius, Director of Vilnius Airport.
Flights from Vilnius to Barcelona are currently operated by two low-cost airlines - Wizz Air and Ryanair. In 2014 they carried over 75,000 passengers to this city in Spain. During 8 months this year the passenger traffic to Barcelona grew 16.7 per cent compared to the same period last year.
The connections between Spain and Lithuania are getting increasingly good - Madrid can be directly reached from Vilnius Airport, while Alicante and Palma de Mallorca – from Kaunas Airport.
Established in 2004, Spanish airline Vueling carried 17.2 million passengers in 2014. It currently flies to 380 destinations in 42 countries. In the operation of flights the airline also closely cooperates with British Airways, Iberia, Qatar Airways and Corsair.
