Development, Ms. Smriti Irani stressed upon the need for evolving separate
skill programs at district level to ensure better education.
Ms. Smriti Irani said that for better education, the need of
the hour is that every district must have it’s own skill based program. Prior
to this one will have to perceive the facts that what are the small industries
in vogue in a district and to know the aspirations of education among people
living in district level, she added. Earlier she also said that in education we
have schemes and courses at centre and state level only and there must be
evaluation regarding education at regular interval of time.
Ms. Irani also informed the people present there that the
Ministry of Human Resource Development is starting a program named ‘GIAN’
(Global Initiative for Academician Program) to ensure presence of world class
faculty at Indian institutions like IITs and IIMs, for a minimum 15 days
period.
In this scheme government can call expert academicians to country and for the same the Centre has already prepared a list of some 320 foreign faculty members, she added. On a pragmatic note Ms. Smriti Irani said that this effort may curtail the number of students going abroad in pursuit of advanced education in presence of good academicians. She also expressed her concern over applications by highly educated people with Ph.D and B. Tech degree for the posts of peon in some states.
