Moscow Domodedovo Airport has raised 38 million EUR for parking development project
Domodedovo Airport plans to use the funds to finance the construction of multi-level parking area of 126 000 sq m in the framework of long-term development of the airport territory.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport managed to attract competitive long-term funding despite the closure of external public markets and rise of borrowing costs for Russian companies.
"Domodedovo Airport is a cornerstone of the Moscow region’s transport infrastructure. Being financing partner of Domodedovo’s expansion, RBI contributes to both the airport’s and the region’s development", — said Anton Fischer, Raiffeisen Bank International’s Head of Corporate Customers CIS/SEE.
The operation of multi-level parking with 3,600 parking spaces located within easy reach by the second segment of passenger terminal is planned by 2017. As a result of this project the total capacity of a wide parking network of private vehicles will be about 9,600 parking spaces.
Expansion of transport infrastructure is one of the priority directions of the airport development. Multi-level parking is one of the open projects of Aerotropolis DME - a large-scale project to create center of business activity around the Domodedovo airport. Aerotropolis as a new form of urban education is to become a driver of socio-economic growth in the region.
Aerotropolis is a form of urban education, synergistic conurbation where layout, infrastructure and economy are concentrated around the airport in a 25-kilometer radius. The term was defined in 2000 by John Kasarda, professor of the University of North Carolina studying the development experience of the largest airports in the world.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest aviation harbor in Russia, the airport served for 33.04 million people in 2014. It is the best airport in Russia and CIS according to Skytrax. Leading airline alliance members such as Star Alliance and oneworld chosen Domodedovo for flights to Moscow.
