OREANDA-NEWS. USST delegation led by Vice President LIU Ping visited Tallinn University of Technology and Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol.

The meeting began with a warm welcome speech delivered by Vice Rector Tea Varrak, followed by the presentation on the active cooperation between the two universities over the past five years. Summer School project manager introduced total 8 programmes that will be offered in summer 2016.

The meeting continued with a discussion on the MoU for research cooperation as well as ideas collaboration at both faculty and university levels, moderated by Prof Kuldar Taveter. Participants praised the efforts made by IT faculties of both universities in initiating and promoting the academic cooperation on master level IT programme.

After action plan concluded by Prof Taveter, Vice Rector Varrak invited Vice President LIU Ping to sign the academic cooperation agreement on MSc in Computer and Systems Engineering between TUT Faculty of Information Technology and USST School of Optical-Electrical and Computer

Afterwards, Dr Marit Kauk-Kuusik, the Acting Head of Department of Material Science laboratory, showed the delegation around the laboratory, several PhD students inside the lab also introduced their research work.

With a research background in material sciences, especially in high strength and high conductivity copper alloy, Vice President Liu took great interests in TUT material sciences laboratory and exchanged several research ideas with both professors and researchers working at the lab.

After working lunch, the guests reached TUT Innovation and Business Centre MEKTORY, Rasmus Reino gave a brief tour, introduced the history, structure and activities of MEKTORY.

Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol was the last stop of TUT campus tour, where the guests was welcomed by CEO Mr Jaak Raie, who gave a brief introduction of Estonia?s biggest science park, chosen by more than 200 high tech companies.
