OREANDA-NEWS. Rostelecom has optimized logistics and warehousing in all regions of its presence. The project has optimized and cleared more than 20% of storage space, extended capabilities of ERP-system based on Oracle E-Business Suite to control and manage the cost of warehousing, accounting and control. This enables real-time tracking of stocks and warehouses fullness.

During the project implementation period - from October 2013 to March 2015 - there had been carried out a range of activities. First, the company had performed audit of the space and the resource structure. It included analysis of the use of more than 100 warehouse area of about 250 sq. m. with the total commodity stocks more than 50 million storage units. Audit determined the effect of additional factors such as the scale of business projects, geographical, technical and social aspects of the federal districts and regions. This analysis allowed forming the calculating algorithm for storage space that meets the needs of all regions. In order to optimize the balances and their storage areas, the company had established procedures of inventory management and material flows.

Then, in order to improve the efficiency of warehouse management processes and operations, the company has formed a mechanism for allocation of storage costs, as well as developed and implemented a new functionality based on Oracle E-Business Suite - the operational inventory control and reporting, which is analogous to the warehouse management system - across the company's offices.

Automation of inventory control has been carried out with MAYKOR-GMCS, selected as a contractor on the base of open competition.
