Premier attends Ethnic Festival in north-western Moldovan district
OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet attended the opening of the Ethnic Festival, held in the town of Riscani this morning.
The prime minister mentioned the importance of this event for Moldovan society, but also in promoting the cultural values of national minorities in Moldova. "Several ethnic groups live in our country, different in culture, traditions, language, but what unites us all is that we are one people – the Moldovan people. Only through unity we will make this country prosperous and thriving in all aspects: social, economic, cultural, "said Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet.
The premier pointed out the steps undertaken by the government in this particular field, also noting the acceleration of the implementation of the Strategy for integration of national minorities in Moldova. The prime minister stressed that the government would encourage knowledge of the culture, history, language and religion of national minorities as well as the study of the Romanian language by national minorities, ensuring the necessary conditions.
The prime minister also visited the fair organised in the centre of the town of Riscani where local producers exhibited their merchandise. Subsequently, the prime minister had a discussion with the representatives of the local public authorities. Valeriu Strelet spoke about the problems Moldova faced, also presenting the government’s solutions for each one. The discussions focused mainly on the situation in the financial sector, the visit of the Mission of the International Monetary Fund to Moldova, gradually adjusting the pension system, as well as subsidising farmers. The premier stated that currently the government was working on a special draft law that would establish exactly how the state would support the farmers.
Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today is paying a working visit to the north-western Riscani district.
