Shvabe Extends Its Market Presence in South African Customs Union
OREANDA-NEWS. Shvabe Holding completed the process of registration of the Latin trademark in the Kingdom of Lesotho for 16 classes of the International Classification of Goods and Services.
Trademark registration will allow the Holding to sell more than 6,500 kinds of own products in the territory of Lesotho. In addition, the exclusive rights allow Shvabe to provide maintenance services for its South African partners and implement joint scientific and educational projects.
"Lesotho is a new and a very important market for Shvabe. The economy of this state is integrated with South Africa, having a significant share of diamond exports, whereat diamonds are used in the structure of semiconductor and optical devices. The Kingdom is a part of the Southern African Customs Union, which markets are considered to be a perspective area of operation for the Holding. In particular, Shvabe has already provided the intellectual property protection for the brand in Botswana. In addition to cooperation in the field of industry, the Holding is interested in developing educational and scientific programs with Lesotho, as this country invests more than 12% of its GDP in education," said Anatoly Sludnykh, Deputy Director General for Sales, Foreign Trade and Marketing of Shvabe JSC.
The Kingdom of Lesotho is an enclave completely surrounded by South Africa.
