Delta raises record $1.7 million to beat cancer
OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2015. In 2015, Delta donated a company record of more than \\$1.7 million to the American Cancer Society to help fund research, education and patient programs to end cancer.
As a further show of Delta’s support, Bill Lentsch, Senior Vice President - Airport Customer Service and Cargo Operations, authorized a baggage tug with special Relay For Life branding, since the race is one of the American Cancer Society's signature fundraisers. Last week, he debuted the baggage tug to some of Delta’s most involved fundraisers.
“This tug is a great way to increase awareness about the corporate support that Delta offers one of our key community partners,” Lentsch said. “When our customers see this purple tug at the Atlanta airport, they know it represents Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.”
For the past 13 years, Delta people have fought all types of cancer by supporting the American Cancer Society through Relay For Life, galas, Delta Day of Hope and other events around the world.
“Our goal was an aggressive \\$1.5 million this year, and thanks to the more than 45,000 employees and customers around the world who supported the 2015 campaign, we continue to raise the bar,” Lentsch said. “I am touched by the passion and drive surrounding the cause. Each of us has been affected by this terrible disease, and we have joined together to help finish the fight.”
