Moldovan PM, Swiss official address cooperation, reforms, assistance
OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet met Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova Simone Giger today. The officials tackled the office's activity, as well as prospects of initiating new cooperation projects.
Giger said that Switzerland would further provide assistance, in order to implement projects and was ready to launch new initiatives to promote reforms in Moldova. In particular, Simone Giger referred to the Strategy on Cooperation with Moldova for 2014-2017. „The strategy stipulates providing of financial assistance worth about 55 million Swiss francs, which represents a double support compared to the previous period - 2010-2013, as well the inclusion of a new assistance area - migration and development,” Giger said.
Valeriu Strelet highlighted that the government was open for an efficient cooperation and praised the Office's role in implementing goals of Moldova to align with international standards, modernising heath services, infrastructure and other sectors. At the same time, Strelet spoke out for boosting technical assistance provided to Moldova within more projects, meant to improve the living conditions of people, among which access to drinking water and sewage.
The Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova is an official representative of the Embassy of Switzerland. The Office is in charge of implementing assistance programmes provided by the Swiss government, in order to implement projects in various areas in Moldova.
