OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has started large-scale testing in its network in Moscow Region. This is a final stage of preparations for the launch of commercial operations and sales in the capital.

Tele2 is actively preparing for the network launch in Moscow and Moscow Region that is to take place on 22 October 2015. Prior to launching its services, the company is holding a comprehensive testing in all segments of the network infrastructure. The project involves over 600 employees that will test the quality of the operator’s mobile services in the region.

The project is aiming to test the quality of voice, gauge speed of connections and SMS/MMS delivery. Professional technical monitoring along with the customer experience of Tele2 employees will let the operator solve all issues and improve the quality of connections where it’s necessary by the moment of the commercial launch in the Moscow metropolitan area.

Tests are being carried out with the help of Tele2’s application “Companion”, designed to evaluate the quality of connections (companion.tele2.ru). The service is working in the background of the subscriber’s phone and transmits all data to the company’s technical service. Tele2 employees may use the application to gauge data speed, the signal’s level in- and outdoors. The “Companion” is available for download in Google Play and App Store. Over 10 000 subscribers of Tele2 have installed the application in different Russian regions.

Tele2 has already finished rolling out the clustering network and continues its works on the backhaul development. The operator builds over 100 base stations in the Moscow metropolitan area every week. Tele2 has already provided high-quality network coverage where over 85% population of the capital and 55% of Moscow Region residents live, including the largest cities such as Odintsovo, Podolsk, Khimki, Mytishchi, Zheleznodorzhnyy, Lyubertsy, Vidnoye, Reutov, Korolev, Dolgoprudnyy, Krasnogorsk and Elektrostal.

From the beginning of the year Tele2 increased a total number of base stations in Russia by 26%. According to the Federal Supervision Agency for Information Technologies and Communications (Roskomnadzor), Tele2 showed the highest growth rates of 3G and 4G base stations rollout among all Russian operators − +28,6% and +27,3% correspondently. Rollout of the Moscow Region network accounts for a considerable share in total construction volumes.
