OREANDA-NEWS. Mexican automotive supplier Nemak opened its first Russian plant on September 11th, the construction of which began in May of 2014. The enterprise was located in the industrial zone "Zavolzhe" near Ulyanovsk. Investments in the project were about 4 billion Rubles.

According to the agency "Prime", Nemak plant will produce cylinder heads and engine blocks for cars. The project involves the production of up to 1 million parts per year with the use of aluminum castings. The new facility will employ 300 workers. The first consumer of products of the Nemak plant is Kaluga plant Volkswagen, UAZ is also among potential customers.

Nemak is a part of the Mexican industrial conglomerate Alfa and it specializes in the production of cylinder heads, engine blocks, transmission housings and other automotive components. The company owns 34 plants in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Nemak's clients are 42 leading automakers. The company employs about 18 thousand employees.
