OREANDA-NEWS. Ford is increasing its share of SUV in sales of vehicles of the brand in Russia, where the full range of off-road vehicles is presented, which includes crossovers Ford EcoSport and Kuga, as well as all-wheel drive SUV Ford Explorer. At the end of eight months of 2015 the share of SUVs in Russian sales of Ford was 36.8% against 30.5% in January-August of 2014, an increase by 6.3%. Sales of Ford SUV in August increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2014.

As the press service of the Ford Sollers informed, four-wheel drive vehicles are very popular in the Russian market. The company takes into account the preferences of Russian customers - today 50% of the model range of Ford in Russia is represented with four-wheel drive. Also an important part of the further development of the Ford model range in Russia is the adaptation of cars of brand for the Russian market. Engineers R & D center of Ford Sollers adapted Ford cars that are presented in the market by maximum, to the weather and road conditions in Russia: model range of engines is adapted for Russia and it is certified to operate on petrol AI-92; cars are equipped with special winter package, including electric heating windshield and washer nozzles, heated front seats and steering wheel. The new models are equipped with a multimedia system SYNC 2 in Russian language with navigation system to display traffic jams in real time in more than 50 cities of Russia. At the moment we are working on further adaptation of Ford models for the Russian market, the results of which the company will announce separately.

Ford in Russia continues to fulfill its commitments to launch new models, localization and expanding of their presence in Russia. Since the beginning of 2015 in Russia in the plants of Ford Sollers started the full-cycle production of four models - new Mondeo, the new Transit, the new Fiesta and the new Focus. In addition, at the beginning of September of 2015 the company Ford Sollers launched the engine production at its new plant in Yelabuga. Investments in the production were more than 275 million Dollars. The plant began to produce three versions of gasoline engine Duratec 1,6L, which will be installed in the cars Ford, produced in Russia, in particular local engines will be received by Ford Fiesta models in two versions, sedan and hatchback, the new Ford Focus and the subcompact crossover EcoSport.
