Technology Talks Motivate Industry Advancement
OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2015. Collaboration fosters innovative developments that demand the fusion of a diverse group of perspectives. Lockheed Martin and the Missile Defense Agency realize the value of exchange and recently held a technical interchange meeting in Moorestown, New Jersey, including companies from across the country. Discussions focused on topics that would encourage collaborations on new customer solutions.
"Having Lockheed Martin as a team member on our Small Business Innovation Research Program efforts has greatly contributed to the delivery of successful products to our mutual customers as well as the growth of Lewis Innovative Technologies,” says Sarah Nelson, Vice President of Business Development, Lewis Innovative Technologies, Inc.
The Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR)/ Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) provides a venue for small businesses to introduce their technical capabilities to large companies. Lockheed Martin engages with small businesses through the Federal Government’s SBIR/STTR Program to assist such businesses in the development of novel and innovative technologies in order to bring these emerging technologies to the company’s products and services.
“Lockheed Martin provides guidance throughout the SBIR process to help mature small business technology and enable its incorporation into a more innovative and affordable product for our customers,” said Jeff MacBride, small business program manager for Lockheed Martin Mission System and Training. “We even offer the use of facilities like our Surface Navy Innovation Center to foster technology exchanges.”
During the technical interchange meeting, Lockheed Martin toured participants in the Surface Navy Innovation Center “SNIC”, which is a research, development and demonstration facility open to industry, government and academia use to design next generation technologies.
