OREANDA-NEWS. SIX Swiss Exchange has been one of the first European exchanges to launch a segment for ETFs and is looking back on an unprecedented success story.

In September 2000 the first ETFs were listed on SIX Swiss Exchange - the starting shot for a growth story that gains another chapter with its 15th anniversary. In all aspects, impressive growth has been recorded: in terms of trading turnover, the number of product providers and market makers, the assets invested in ETFs, the quantity and diversity of the products as well as the options to use them.

Alain Picard, Head Product Management, comments: "We are proud of reaching this milestone, and we would like to thank our clients and partners for the good collaboration". In the current year, UBS has listed the largest number of new products while the most traded product is provided by iShares.

In February 2015, the choice of products on SIX Swiss Exchange has passed the milestone of a 1'000 ETFs. With WisdomTree and Van Eck Global Investments the Swiss Exchange could also welcome two new issuers in March and June. At the end of August, investors can already trade over 1'100 ETFs from 20 providers, while 23 official market makers provide liquidity.
