OREANDA-NEWS. DAF has decided to invest 100 million euros in the creation of new high-tech paint shop for truck cabs in Westerlo. It will increase the capacity of the Belgian plant for the production of cabins by about fifty percent. Painting of the first cabins in the new shop is scheduled for the first half of 2017. In the coming years, DAF expects the demand for trucks in Europe and it aims to increase its market share of heavy vehicles from the current figure of 14.8% to 20%. In addition, DAF has also plans to strengthen its position outside Europe.

As the press service of the company informed, thanks to the partners (D?rr and Eisenmann) a new workshop (room size is 25 thousand sq. meters) will be the most modern paint shop truck cabs in the world. Operation painting will be performed by cutting-edge robots with so-called "bell" applicator. They rotate at up to 50,000 rev / min and provide perfect quality and maximum efficiency of the coating by using less paint and solvent (innovation development).

The air from the painting and drying chamber is condensed - to provide a high concentration of solvents, which burned automatically at a temperature of about 700-800 degrees without adding gas. The energy, which is released during combustion, will be used to heat the process baths. The production technology provides not only the reduction of energy consumption but also greater environmental safety: with the exception of a limited amount of CO2 emissions only water vapor is released into the atmosphere.
