OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2015. Power management company Eaton today announced the launch of a competitively priced, enclosed manual motor starter with hand-off-auto (HOA) functionality and run light indication. Designed to meet the needs of contractors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and distributors in the construction and heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) markets, this compact, cost-effective package solution is designed to enable both local and remote control capabilities of one horsepower, single phase motor applications where overload protection is required.

“Eaton’s enclosed manual motor starters are engineered to enable customers to save money while simplifying the purchase and installation of small motor load overload protection,” said Haley Orr, product manager, Eaton. “In a single, compact footprint smaller than competitive devices, our packaged solution with hand-off-auto capabilities also supports the growing demand for more flexible remote monitoring and control applications at the building or facility level.”

With Eaton’s cost-saving, compact solution, customers will no longer need to order three separate parts to assure overload protection for small motor power loads up to 16 amperes (A) at 120 to 240 volts (V). This quick and easy to install package solution features straight through wiring and introduces greater control flexibility with remote control options that can integrate directly into a building’s existing automation system.

Eaton’s enclosed manual motor starter package solution is an ideal fit for the HVAC and construction markets where overload protection of small motor loads is required. Applications may include exhaust fans, pumps, conveyors, mixers, blowers, small machine tools and refrigerator compressors.

The enclosed manual motor starter provides the same functionality of a rotary switch design with the updated look and feel of a toggle switch. An optional MSLG handle guard accessory enables a locked setting on the starter toggle to help prevent unwanted or accidental operation. By locking the starter toggle into the off position, users can be assured of the maximum safety and protection for small motor load applications.

The packaged product solution carries the National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association (NEMA) 1 rating for the enclosure which is made of die cast aluminum for long product life. The product has obtained Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approval and is United Laboratories (UL) certified for 60947-4-1.

The enclosed manual motor starter solution is readily available through Eaton’s Control Stock Plus Program. To learn more about Eaton’s manual motor starter solutions, please visit: http://www.eaton.com/mmshoa.
