OREANDA-NEWS. Russia will continue to contribute to the IAEA Nuclear Security Fund in 2016-2021, CEO of ROSATOM Sergey Kirienko said. With this, the federal funds for Russian program to support the IAEA safeguards have been raised more than twice, he said, addressing the 59th General Conference of the IAEA.

“The decision of principle has been made to continue putting in money to the IAEA Nuclear Security Fund in 2016-2021. We have raised more than twice the money that is allocated from the federal budget for implementation of the Russian safeguards support program. We are gradually building up contributions to the Technical Cooperation Fund,” Kirienko said in his address.

He also noted that Russia supported the establishment of the IAEA low enriched uranium bank in Kazakhstan, as well as the guaranteed physical inventory of low enriched uranium on the site of the International Uranium Enrichment Center in Angarsk.
