OREANDA-NEWS. September 15, 2015. ACCESS CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the automotive, mobile, Internet of Things (IoT) and digital TV markets, today announced that it will showcase how its NetFront™ Browser series ensures smart TVs stay smart through supporting the latest versions of applications such as the YouTube guidelines, including Encrypted Media Extensions (EME) and Media Source Extensions (MSE) for premium content at IBC (stand 14.D14). The continued and extended support enables TV and set-top box manufacturers to provide consumers with access to YouTube on TV via the latest YouTube HTML5 application.

“By continuing to enable smart TV manufacturers and operators to support the latest versions of applications, we’re making sure smart TVs stay smart – for instance if a TV browser does not support the latest YouTube guidelines, then the YouTube app simply will not work,” says Dr Neale Foster, COO and Global VP Sales TV, ACCESS Europe. “Maintaining support for all the latest standards and guidelines is a large and tedious job for a connected device manufacturer. By leveraging our global reach and our support for all major broadcast standards as well as major individual extensions such as those deployed by YouTube, operators can consistently offer immersive entertainment to consumers on any screen. In an increasingly complex world for the device manufacturer, it is a relief to know that a browser vendor can handle multiple standards, including BML, Ginga, HbbTV, Hybridcast and more. By simply updating the browser to keep abreast of evolving standards and guidelines, operators can significantly improve the viewer experience, helping them maintain consumer brand loyalty and reducing operator churn.”[nbsp]

Visitors to the ACCESS stand at IBC (11-16 September, Amsterdam RAI, The Netherlands) will see how the ACCESS HTML5-compliant browser family helps operators deliver a seamless experience regardless of the content source and devices used to access the service. ACCESS can provide NetFront™ Browser NX, based on WebKit, and Chromium Blink engine-based NetFront™ Browser BE enabling device manufacturers to choose Chromium or WebKit development paths.
