Bayer again listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index
OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2015. Bayer is once again included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World). Bayer is thus one of very few companies worldwide to have qualified for the 16th time in succession for one of the most important sustainability indices. This underlines Bayer’s position as one of the leading sustainably-driven companies in the pharmaceutical industry, the sector to which the company is assigned in this index.
“We are delighted by our renewed listing,” said Michael K?nig, member of the Bayer Board of Management responsible for Human Resources, Technology and Sustainability. “It provides external confirmation of our corporate strategy to combine economic success with social and ecological responsibility,” added K?nig. “Sustainability is a central aspect of our core business. We document this in our integrated Annual Report, in which we define and transparently communicate measurable key data and targets for both the financial and non-financial sector.”
For the DJSI World, the Swiss rating agency RobecoSAM assessed some 2,000 of the world’s largest listed companies on behalf of the index provider S&P Dow Jones Indices according to the “best-in-class” principle: a detailed analysis determines the 10 percent of companies in a given sector that have the best overall economic, ecological and social performance. Within its sector Bayer was rated particularly highly in the areas of integrated reporting, supplier management and stakeholder engagement.
The DJSI World serves as a guide for institutional investors who place particular value on sustainability, helping them to assess the sustainability performance of companies represented on the index.
