OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2015. The dynamic preparatory activities related to the Akkuyu NPP construction are continuing in Mersin province, namely the Off-shore Hydraulic Engineering Structures (OHES). The representatives of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC and Cengiz In?aat Company, which will perform the turn-key design and construction of the Akkuyu NPP’s OHES, hold a technical meeting at the site of the first nuclear power plant of the Republic of Turkey. Fuad Akhundov, Chief Executive Officer, headed the delegation of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC and As?m Cengiz, member of the BoD, represented Cengiz In?aat Company.

At the meeting Dmitriy Tveritinov, Director of the NPP under construction, made a presentation about the project implementation progress. After the meeting Fuad Akhundov and As?m Cengiz viewed the OHES construction site. The CEO of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC said: “the preparatory work for construction of the off-shore hydraulic engineering structures meets the previously planned schedule. All work under the design is on schedule".

The Akkuyu NPP project is implemented under the Agreement signed on May 12 2010 between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on design and construction of a nuclear power plant in the province of Mersin. On December 01, 2014 the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of the Republic of Turkey approved the EIA Report (Environmental Impact Assessment) of the Akkuyu NPP project. On February 10, 2015 this Ministry approved the Coastal Zoning Plan under the project. In April 2015 Turkish Cengiz In?aat Company was pronounced a winner of the bid for the “turn-key” design and construction of the off-shore hydraulic engineering structures of Akkuyu NPP.
