OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today met with representatives of the Employers' Association of Processing Industry (APIP). The sides discussed the current situation of the industry sector, the main issues affecting business development and attracting investments in the manufacture industry in Moldova as well as its revival prospects.

In particular, the sides discussed the launching of two new investment projects in Moldova, which will create about 7,000 jobs in the south and centre of the country.

According to APIP Chairman Marin Ciobanu, as a result of the consultations with members of the Association, held with a number of international corporations, together with the team for attracting investments under the prime minister, two foreign companies have expressed willingness to launch investment projects Moldova in the near future. The projects aim at the construction / reconstruction of the industrial premises in Cahul (about 30,000 square meters) and Straseni (about 20,000 square meters). These projects could be completed within two years, and will significantly contribute to the economic development of the country.

Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet said that Moldova needed direct foreign investment and assured that the government would support such projects, including providing administrative and customs facilities, and by investing in infrastructure. The prime minister stressed the importance of the training of the newly-created enterprises’ employees, ensuring better work conditions and providing competitive salaries.

The Employers' Association of Processing Industry was created two years ago and is made up of over 20 companies operating in Moldova.
