OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2015. At FachPack 2015 Bosch Packaging Technology will present its modernized PME mandrel wheel packaging machine which is designed to accommodate an extended range of innovative film- and paper-based packaging. To demonstrate this technology, the company will be showing various pack styles for dry, free-flowing goods such as coffee, tea, or sugar. Bosch experts will explain how the machine?s technical innovations can save packaging material, while enabling flexibility in terms of packaging designs and sizes.

Enhanced PME mandrel wheel technology
The modified mandrel wheel package maker is able to process a wide range of packaging materials such as paper, cardboard, or film. These materials can also be combined on the machine; for example the carton with inner bag, where both layers of the packaging are completely formed before the inner bag is filled with product. The increased flexibility of the PME mandrel wheel machine allows for the production of a wide range of package sizes from 30 grams to 2.5 kilograms on a single machine. Due to the optimized technology, manufacturers can now choose from a range of innovative pack styles, such as cube-shaped packaging and a wide selection of top closures to help them stand out from the competition.

Efficiency for a competitive edge
Compared to similar packaging solutions, the PME mandrel wheel machine has a smaller footprint, while achieving an output of up to 100 packages per minute. In addition, the technology offers a high degree of weight accuracy thanks to an optional inline weighing system. The high-precision dosing technology allows for the efficient packaging of free-flowing goods and minimizes product loss during the filling process. Depending on the pack style, an ideal material-to-product ratio can be achieved, as well as very good stackability. This enables manufacturers to optimize their storage capacities and logistics processes, thereby reducing their environmental footprint. Furthermore, the machine's modular design minimizes changeover times, reducing downtime.

The new pack styles will be presented on the Bosch booth at FachPack 2015, Exhibition Centre Nuremberg, Germany, September 29 to October 1, hall 3A-337.
