OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2015. Sandvik has today decided to maintain its operations in Turku. This decision is taken after further investigation of the competitive landscape, the current market situation and risks involved.

We always need to ensure a long-term commitment towards our customers, maintaining a strong market position in key areas for Sandvik. For these reasons it has been decided to maintain the activities in and deliveries from the Turku plant, which has a proven track record in key areas.

“We deeply apologize for the inconveniences that this may have caused for the employees concerned and others affected by the previous decision. The complete supply chain process is complex and the impact of changes can be difficult to foresee”, says Scot Smith, President, Sandvik Mining.

The impact of the decision will now be evaluated in the perspective of the supply chain optimization program as a whole.

“We will continue to focus forward to fulfill and exceed our customer commitments and expectations”, says Scot Smith, Sandvik.
