OREANDA-NEWS. This September, employees in Ford Asia Pacific are joining the Global Caring Month, Ford’s annual global volunteering efforts with over 120 projects across the region. This much anticipated event allows Ford employees and their dealer partners to come together for the benefit of the many deserving communities in Asia Pacific.  It further illustrates Ford’s enduring commitment to help build a better world.

This year, given the many positives the event has influenced, and to commemorate its 10th year, Ford has expanded the event from a Global Week of Caring, to a full month of activity. This welcome extension will allow for more work to be done, more projects to reach completion, and more people to enjoy better lives because of them.

The Asia Pacific Global Caring Month projects focus on a broad spectrum of issues and efforts. These include donation and charity events, health and sanitation efforts, educational and athletic activities, as well as facility renovation and improvement. There are also various clean-up and disaster relief efforts planned for areas affected by flooding, and other extreme weather. These projects will benefit communities in 15 markets, including China, India, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Nepal, Vanuatu and Cambodia.

For instance, In China, Ford volunteers will be working with the Shanghai Rendu Ocean NPO Development Center to clean-up local beaches near Shanghai. In India, Ford will collaborate with Hand in Hand India, an organization that specializes in health and natural resource management, to plant trees with children attending 16 local schools. And in the Philippines, employees will partner with the Gawad Kalinga Foundation to build a communal water supply for areas affected by the Yolanda (Haiyan) super typhoon in 2013, where most people have yet to recover.

Since the annual event began, it has seen 216,000 Ford volunteers donate over one million hours of their time toward more than 9,000 projects globally. Projects have spanned across 48 counties, on six different continents, and have all been planned and executed by local volunteer workers. It’s an amazing testament to the mindset, work ethic and passion Ford employees bring to work every day.

ONE Ford is alive and well, and every year it is made evident thanks to the thousands of volunteers working to make their communities a better place for all.
