OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2015. More than 40 employees from Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s (MPC’s) refinery in Robinson, Ill., recently participated in a Day at the Capitol in Springfield, Ill., sponsored by the Marathon Petroleum Employees Political Action Committee (MPAC). This is the first time the Robinson refinery has hosted this event. Organized by MPC State Government Affairs Manager Rick Kadansky, the day focused on educating MPC employees about the importance of being engaged in state government, both as employees and citizens.

During their visit, the group received an update on hydraulic fracturing from district legislatures and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. They also participated in a business day luncheon where they were acknowledged in front of 500 business people by the House Minority Leader. Employees had the opportunity to meet with many Illinois legislative leaders and ended their visit by receiving a tour of the state capitol building.

According to Kadansky, there was outstanding interest and engagement from all of the attendees. “This was a great event that allowed MPC employees to learn more about issues impacting our industry and to talk with their elected officials.”
