OREANDA-NEWS. Ford Sollers Company opened engine plant in Yelabuga, which is located close to a car assembly plant. Total investment in the project was 275 million dollars. The planned annual capacity of the plant at the first stage will be 105 thousand engines, with a possible further increase up to 200,000 engines per year.

As the press service of the joint venture informed the agency "AUTOSTAT", the first on the conveyor in Ford Sollers in Tatarstan will be new petrol engine 1,6 Ti-VCT Sigma with three different powers - 85 hp, 105 hp and 125 hp, which will allow the company to equip with the engines of Ford Sollers at least 30% of produced Ford cars in Russia. New engines Sigma of Russian production will be installed on the Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta, Ford EcoSport.

Problems of localization of production are mainly located in the plane of the searching of component suppliers of the first level - that is the most difficult parts, said the general director of “Auto-Dealer-SPb", Michail Chaplygin. In this regard, in his opinion, Ford may soon win, on which engines from the plant of the concern in Tatarstan will be supplied.

As stated in the Ford Sollers, by the end of 2015 the company will reach the localization rate of 45%, and by 2018 it plans to achieve the target of 60%. "The growing localization increases the competitive advantage and it allows the company to maintain the business, by maintaining a stable level of production and by meeting the needs of customers in a good and quality product", - informed the press-service of joint venture.

Recall from the beginning of the year, the company Ford Sollers launched in its enterprises the full production of four models - new Mondeo, Transit, Fiesta and Focus.
