OREANDA-NEWS. September 04, 2015. President Abdul Fattah el-Sisi of Arab Republic of Egypt Today met Huawei Chairwoman Sun Yafang during his visit to Beijing. Madam Sun congratulates president Sisi for New Suez Canal Opening, they exchanged views on communications network construction, ICT-enabled development projects.

President Sisi remarked, "I recognize Huawei's strategic investment in the Egyptian market, and also its initiatives for developing the ICT industry in Egypt. Huawei has progressed well in Egypt. As the situation becomes stable and our economy recovers, I trust that Huawei will contribute more to boosting the nation's communications network coverage and increasing ICT adoption by our government and public services. I encourage Huawei and other multi-national companies to invest more and play a meaningful role in our major national projects."

Madam Sun said, "I would like to thank you, President Sisi, for your continued support of Huawei. Since our meeting in Beijing at the end of last year, we have become more confident in developing business in Egypt. Huawei is committed to improving ICT education and bridging the digital divide in Egypt. The Seeds for the Future program is one of the key initiatives for us to fulfill this commitment. More countries have realized that ICT investment will promote national economic development. Huawei is ready to work with Egypt to build a robust ICT ecosystem and expedite the country’s economic recovery."

President Sisi and Madam Sun also exchanged views on the major national ICT projects on which the two parties are collaborating.

In the two weeks of the Seeds for the Future program, 15 Egyptian students will learn about ICT from Huawei experts, and will observe global business operations at Huawei's headquarters in Shenzhen. In the future, Huawei will continue to partner with local institutions of higher education and training facilities to establish training centers for cultivating ICT professionals in Egypt. Currently, the Seeds for the Future program has involved more than 150 higher education institutions in over 50 countries, benefiting more than 10,000 students. Through the program, students attend training from Huawei experts, learn about the latest ICT technologies in Huawei's labs, and find out about industry trends.
