OREANDA-NEWS. JSC "Zaporozhstal" successfully passed the first compliance audit of integrated management system (IMS), which was conducted by experts of LLC "Veritas Certification Bureau of Ukraine". Audit confirmed the high level of compliance of Steel Works' IMS with requirements of international standards on ecological management systems ISO 14001, quality management ISO 9001, and also management of labor protection and process safety OHSAS 18008.

IMS certification on international standards requires annual confirmation. In September 2014, OJSC "Zaporozhstal" successfully passed re-certification IMS audit on compliance with international standards ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and received the certificates valid till 2017. In 2015, the international auditors checked the Steel Works on level of compliance with IMS international standards.

Auditors paid special attention to the facilities of ecological modernization of the Steel Works, which were implemented in 2014: reconstructed blast furnace № 4 (BF4) with up-to-date de-dusting system, and hydrochloric acid pickling line in the cold rolling mill №1 (CPL-4). Auditors gave notice of significant changes since the time of carrying out the re-certification audit in 2014, which relate to raising the ecological compatibility of production, following the standards in the field of labor protection and process safety. Besides, on commissioning of new process line CPL-4, the Steel Works raised the quality of products, which permits PJSC "Zaporozhstal" successfully compete at the international markets.

Today, we have carried out comprehensive audit of "Zaporozhstal" system, and we are impressed of what had been done at the Works within the last year It is the colossal material investments into modernization of the production process, which give the significant effect in terms of ecology, resources saving and raising of quality of products", pointed out Ivan Sokolov, doctor of Biological Sciences, the head of ecology and safety department, auditor of Veritas Certification Bureau company.

In the course of the checking, the company auditors noted the strong points of Steel Works' Integrated Management System: arrangement of goal- oriented- planning, based on the key performance factors, directed on employees motivation, high involvement of personnel into the process of continuous improvement of production process and active modernization of production which envisage the package of technological solutions on substantial decreasing of environmental impact in the region.
