Belarusbank takes part in SCO workshop on real sector cooperation support (press release)
OREANDA-NEWS. September 03, 2015. Representatives of Belarusbank and Belarusian business circles took part in a workshop dedicated to the financial support of cooperation within the real economy sector of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The workshop took place in Beijing and Suzhou (China).
The presentation of Belarusbank was conducted by Deputy Chairman of the Board Aliaksandr Paliuka, who acted as the chief speaker. During the visit Belarusbank delegation had several bilateral negotiations, including a meeting with representatives of Sinosure insurance corporation. In addition, the delegation visited several corporations and enterprises.
“We take a deep interest in the experience of our Chinese colleagues, in particular China Development Bank Corporation, in the sphere of machine-building industry support. We are also interested in their efforts aimed at the expansion of cooperation between production facilities and financial institutions within the SCO”, Aliaksandr Paliuka noted. “Besides we would like to learn more about the methods they use to finance domestic investment projects and support small and medium business, which is a banking trend today”, he added.
Negotiations with China Development Bank Corporation resulted in a plan to organize a seminar for clients on the premises of Belarusbank. The seminar will focus on cooperation opportunities within the framework of the development of the Economic Belt of the Silk Road.
Assessing Belarusbank’s participation in international forums, Mr. Paliuka stressed that it was vital for the formation and maintenance of the bank’s international image. In his words, such participation helps strengthen the bank’s business reputation and enables the bank to exchange information and form mutually beneficial connections with counterparts.

The workshop brought together representatives of China government agencies, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the Silk Road Fund and the credit insurance corporation, China Development Bank Corporation, as well as medium and top management of the SCO Interbank Consortium member banks and the BRICS Development Bank.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international alliance that was founded in 2001 by the leaders of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Presently five countries have the status of a SCO observer (India, Mongolia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran), and three more countries (Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka) have the status of a dialogue partner. Belarus received the aforementioned status through a memorandum signed on April 28, 2010.
