OREANDA-NEWS. September 02, 2015. The company Mitsubishi Motors is waiting for doubled sales declining against the background of the falling Russian car market. The Japanese automaker expects at the end of 2015 to sell in Russia about 40 thousand cars Mitsubishi, while 60-65% of them will be assembled at the plant in Kaluga.

President and CEO of "MMC Rus", Naoya Takaya, informed "Za rulem.RF" that prices for new cars will be valid until the end of August, and the decision on their renewal or cancellation will be later. At the same time, he noted that at present the situation is reminiscent of what was happening in the auto market in November and December of the last year. According to the head of "MMC Rus", many automakers want to raise the price to compensate for their losses caused by exchange rate shocks. "We have a lot of options: to remain at the same level, or to raise prices or reduce prices. Now we see what will happen with exchange rates, and the reaction of competitors. And on this basis we will decide", - he did not answer the question of the possibility of price increases and plans to abolish discounts on September 1st.

"No one knows yet (about inflation). Even I do not know. There are many factors - the decision is not so obvious. Situation with stocks is critical. Brands that have a large inventory of vehicles, cannot afford to raise prices", - said the head of the Russian branch of Mitsubishi Motors.

He also recalled that the dealers of the brand started sales of L200 pick-up of the new generation - about 350 cars were delivered in the auto centers throughout Russia. "During the creation of a new generation of pickup the engineers improved not Terrain ability of cars, but they tried to modify comfort - changed the interior, ergonomics, fit the driver, set a new chair. But they also worked with the technical part: now there is a new diesel engine, the new system Super Select”, - added Mr. Takaya.

By the results of the first seven months of 2015 sales of Mitsubishi were 21,865 cars (-47.9%). In July, the Russian dealers of the brand sold 2506 cars – less by 28.4% than a year earlier. Mitsubishi's best-seller of the last month is still SUV Outlander, sales of which increased by 38% to 1487 units. The second place by sales was ranked by crossover ASX with 513 cars. The leader of pickup segment - model L200, which was sold in the amount of 181 cars, closes the top three of best-selling Mitsubishi models.
