OREANDA-NEWS. Power management company Eaton announced it redesigned its three-phase distribution class switches to improve reliability in utility, mining, oil and gas, renewable and other industrial and commercial applications. Eaton’s Cooper Power series M-Force three-phase switch includes advanced design features for robust operation in power distribution feeds. The gang-operated, overhead loadbreak switch provides sectionalizing, paralleling, bypassing or isolating in 15 kilovolt (kV), 25 kV, and 35 kV voltage classifications.

Eaton is the only manufacturer with distribution-class loadbreak switches that include reverse loop contacts, typically incorporated in transmission switches, to improve power reliability. The Cooper Power series M-Force switch is designed to maintain cooler running temperatures, so that it can last longer.

“Eaton’s power distribution technology, including its Cooper Power series M-Force switches, are used around the world to improve operations and advance reliability in utility, data center, mining, oil and gas and other applications,” said Timothy Brenny, product manager at Eaton.

The Eaton M-Force switch design incorporates a range of features to improve durability and make it easier to use. Now, the M-Force switch incorporates a stainless steel bell-crank for better corrosion resistance and a redesigned, more robust snuffer tube. The new Reliabreak holder has fewer components and simpler, more consistent alignment. UltraSIL polymer insulators reduce the overall weight of the switch and make it easier to operate.

Eaton offers Cooper Power series products that provide a range of power delivery and reliability, automation and control, advanced metering and demand response solutions designed to increase efficiency and smart operations. These products serve customers in the utility, commercial, industrial, mining, renewable energy and other markets.
