OREANDA-NEWS. August 31, 2015. The share of agriculture of the country makes up 14% of the total GDP and remains export sector No. 1 in Ukraine. This was stated by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Oleksii Pavlenko during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Exports of agricultural products provide a net flow of currency worth up to USD 30 million daily. The trade balance for agricultural products during the first 6 months of the current year has improved by USD 250 million.

Due to the system-based diversification, Ukraine has significantly increased exports to key countries. In particular, exports to the US upped by 36%, to Asia - by 10%, to the EU countries — by 6%. At this, the share of Russia in total agricultural exports has actually dropped to 2%. "Deliveries to the CIS countries decreased by 31%,” said Olexii Pavlenko.

The Minister stressed that Ukraine is expanding impact on global food security and enters new foreign markets. In particular, despite the restrictions imposed by the Customs Union, temporary restrictions on export of Ukrainian milk and meat to Kazakhstan have been eliminated. The most dynamic is considered cooperation with the People’s Republic of China. Throughout 7 month export of agrarian products to China has equalled USD 889.7 million which is twofold up against relevant period of last year.
