Ford Mustang Club of China Gathers in Beijing
OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2015. The smothering summer heat wasn’t enough to keep enthusiastic Mustang owners from getting a taste of their favorite piece of American Culture. The largest Mustang owner gathering in China was held by the China Ford Mustang Owners Club in Beijing last week, as over 50 owners and their cars gathered at Kaize Motor Sports Base in the suburban Changping District.
In attendance were several rare third and fourth-generation Mustang GTs, the new sixth-generation 2.3L EcoBoost Mustang, and the very powerful fifth-generation Shelby GT500. Even the new sixth-generation 5.0L V8 Mustang made an appearance at the event, as a static show car.
The Kaize Motor Sports Base is a professional test track and drift field. It was the selected location for the event and is also the Club’s training venue.
Owners participated in a friendly competition around the racecourse, which included slalom, drifting, a figure eight, and straight-away elements. Thanks to the all-new IRS, the new sixth-generation Mustang showed excellent handling and cornering capability on the track. After two rounds of competition, the founder of the club crowned three winners. While the course was not difficult, it was purely about enjoying the exciting rear-wheel power of the Mustang.
The gathering provided a great opportunity for owners to better understand their ponies, as well as exchange driving experiences and tips to maintain and modify their car. Mustang sales are booming in China, even though it’s only in its first year on the market. Data shows that over 1,500 down-payment orders have been received since the Mustang’s launch in January of this year. With this increase in Mustang owners in China, the club hopes that future events will attract even more fans and continue to promote the legendary nameplate in China.
