OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2015. VOME volunteers spent eight hours repairing benches and tables, cleaning up trash, painting, planting, digging holes, pruning trees and sweeping away debris in the annual Clark Park cleanup.

For several years, the Ford Hispanic Network has organized this event to contribute with the company’s giving back to the community in one of Ford’s largest and most popular community outreach activities.

Detroit’s Clark Park is the heart of year-round activities for many nearby communities, and one of them is Mexicantown, located less than half a block from the park.

The warmer weather made the event and activities a good outdoors experience; however, for the VOME volunteers, the mission behind the event and supporting the annual Clark Park cleanup was most important. Rudy Perez, senior engineer, DME, one of the VOME organizers, said, “The cleanup adds a great sense of neighborhood pride.”
