MAYKOR Releases 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility Report
OREANDA-NEWS. MAYKOR, a Russian nationwide provider of IT and business process outsourcing services, today released its 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility Report. The report outlines the company's achievements in the areas of staff development, customer relationship management, charitable contributions and socio-economic programs in provinces around the country.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a global trend in the outsourcing industry. According to an International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) survey of midsize and large companies, nearly 40% of respondents said they give preference to outsourcing service providers that demonstrate CSR. Hence, commitment to social responsibility principles not only has social significance, but also results in direct business impact.
"MAYKOR's key CSR programs include a broad range of long-term initiatives. These programs guarantee the company's sustainable development in an era when business survival depends not only on economic factors but also on our contribution to the formation of a healthy social environment," noted Sergey Sulgin, MAYKOR's president.
MAYKOR's key CSR programs focus on raising the prestige of the technical profession, preserving human rights, protecting the environment and creating positive socio-economic changes in the regions where the company have branches.
To encourage more interest in technical professions and create new jobs in the country, MAYKOR strives to form a favorable social environment that promotes employment. In 2014, the company's employee base increased 25% over the prior year to 5,187, of which more than 80% work in provinces around the country. MAYKOR regularly provides in-person and distance learning training for its engineers, helping curb the shortage of technical specialists. The company also organizes corporate activities and participates in public events that help create a more positive view of the engineering profession.
MAYKOR aspires to create values common to both business and community. In carrying out service projects, MAYKOR has helped more than 1,200 midsize and large companies manage their infrastructure more effectively, incorporate new technologies into their operations and streamline their business processes. These have played a role in stimulating the economic development of the country.
The company also gives special attention to environmental and social policy. 90% of MAYKOR's services are classified as low risk while only 10% fall into the medium risk category. Moreover, this classification exercise showed that the company has no activities associated with a high level of environmental and social risks. High importance is also placed on charitable activities as indicated in the CSR report. The company has implemented corporate volunteering as part of its "A Good Future with MAYKOR" and "Labor for Labor" programs.
In 2014, MAYKOR's employees organized several federal and regional volunteer activities to help the Ivanovo orphanage, the Reshemskaya correctional boarding school and the Voskhod (Sunshine) association at the All-Russia Society for the Blind.
