OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2015. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has launched its YouTube channel. The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju launched the channel at a brief ceremony here today with the video ‘Saal Ek Shuruat Anek’.

‘Saal Ek Shuruat Anek’ is a short video of just over ten minutes duration, narrating the achievements of the MHA during the first year of the Government.  From guarding the land borders and coastlines to maintenance of law and order, the gamut of activities of the MHA is so diverse that there is hardly any individual in the country who remains untouched by the activities of the Ministry. Comprising of 20 Divisions, the MHA is the largest Ministry in the Central Secretariat.

Since assuming office of the Union Home Minister on May 29, 2014, Shri Rajnath Singh has laid stress on building a ‘Safe and Secure India’. There has been a marked improvement in the security scenario across the country, - from infiltration in Jammu & Kashmir to insurgency in the North-East and Left Wing Extremism across swathes of mainland, violence levels have largely been contained barring stray incidents.

The contribution of CAPFs towards securing our borders and maintenance of internal security and law and order is invaluable. Helping them keep pace with the increasing threats and security challenges, the Union Home Minister substantially hiked the financial powers of the chiefs of CAPFs to help expedite their Acquisition and Modernization programmes.

MHA has fast adapted itself to the changing times and as a result the e-Tourist Visa facility has seen exponential growth during Shri Rajnath Singh’s tenure at the helm of affairs of the MHA. So far, the scheme has been extended to 77 countries at nine designated airports. This facility is being expanded to 36 more countries and seven airports from tomorrow.

Rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrant families and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots victims has been the priority of Shri Rajnath Singh from Day One. An elaborate plan for the resettlement of Kashmiri migrants is in the works in collaboration with the J&K State Government while compensation to 1984 riot victims has been hiked and the Justice Mathur Committee set up to re-examine riot cases and consider reopening investigation wherever necessary. Apart from this, the safety and security of the North-Eastern people staying in other parts of the country has been a top concern. In this regard, recommendations made by the MP Bezbaruah Committee are being progressively implemented.

In addition, three more films made by MHA are Samadhan (Solution) (Duration 15 Minutes), Salam Zindagi (Duration 14 Minutes) and E-Zindagi Tujhe Salam (Duration 16 Minutes). These films are made by the DAVP for MHA, for educating and promoting the need for the rural youth to join mainstream and shun violence in the 10 Left Wing Extremism affected states. It brings out the ill effects of LWE violence on the public at large.  The  themes of the films are as under:

Samadhan- The film “ Samadhan” (Solution) is inspired by real life story of  Jhulan Devi of Pandura village under Sandesh block, District Bhojpur, Bihar. The film portrays her role in electing a  village headmen for the Pandura Panchayat as Sarpanch, who happened to be a Left Wing Extremist. Due to the violence perpetrated by the Sarpanch, Jhullan Devi turns against the Maoist forces. This film depicts the efforts made by Jhullan Devi to bring LWE cadres in the main stream.

Salam ZindagiThis film depicts the reality of the Left Wing Extremism activities across the country. It highlights the violence unleashed by the CPI Maoist and how it affects the tribals. It further includes the point of view of the civilians and Government Officials about Left Wing Extremism. It portrays the plight and sufferings of a poor villager who had joined CPI Maoist. He had planted improvised explosives devices for Security Forces but civilians get injured by these IEDs. He realizes the futility of joining Left Wing Extremism and has a change of heart.

E-Zindagi Tujhe SalamThis film is based on the activities of four Left Wing Extremist cadres deep in the jungles. These cadres are fatigued by constant operations of security forces against them. They have been evading arrests by security forces. These LWE cadres realize that the extortion, unleashing of violence on people did not yield any results. Instead, they have been running for their life from fear of arrest from security forces.  Based on the discussions amongst themselves on the futility of joining Left Wing Extremism, they decide to surrender and live life peacefully.
