OREANDA-NEWS. For the first time in 3 years Boryspil International Airport has finished the first half with profit. The net profit of the enterprise for 6 months in 2015 amounts to UAH 214.5 million. It is worth noting that for the first half of 2014 the loss of enterprise was UAH 116.4 million, for the first half of 2013 - UAH 7.1 million.

Following Airport operation in 2015 the net income for the half year is UAH 1 billion 154.8 million that is by 58.7 % more than in the previous year [UAH 727.7 million]. Thereby, the gross profit has increased by 2.63 times - from UAH 261.3 million in 2014 to UAH 687.5 million this year. The financial result from operations has increased by 2.5 times - from UAH 294.2 million in 2014 to UAH 748.3 million this year.

Herein, it needs to be noted that due to optimization of technological processes and creation of transparent procurement system, the prime cost of the airport services has increased insignificantly.

The positive results of Airport operation in the first half of 2015 became possible due to introduction of the airport development strategy, which has started to be implemented since December, 2014. The key areas of this strategy are availability of air carriers, which implement the hub strategy at the Airport; increase of service level and attractiveness of the airport for passengers; flexible air carriers motivation system, aimed at the stimulation of air transportation, development of new destinations, transfer passenger flows; operational effectiveness provision, technological processes optimization.

According to the results of reform strategy introduction, Boryspil Airport has provided the growth of the number of handled passengers from 3.13 million [2014] to 3.20 million [2015] in the first half of 2015 that as of today makes up 68% of all passenger air transportation of the country.

A tendency towards gradual stabilization of air transportation via the main airport of the country is confirmed by the opening of the new flights by the air carriers. Thus, within 2015 the new flights from Boryspil Airport were opened to Riga, Minsk, Beijing, Alicante, Palma de Mallorca, Amman, Kutaisi, Zaporizhia [UIA], seasonal flights to Pula [Windrose], Burgas [UTair Ukraine], flight connections with Ashkhabad by Turkmenistan Airlines and Malta by Air Malta were resumed.

The positive results of the first half laid the ground for further growth of volumes and providing profitability of the main airport of the country.
