OREANDA-NEWS. August 12, 2015. Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today met Czech Ambassador to Moldova Jaromir Kvapil. The two officials noted the importance of developing the bilateral political dialogue, highlighting the possibility of organising the visit of Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka to Moldova.

Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet expressed gratitude for the constant support the Czech Republic has shown Moldova in the effort of modernisation of the country and alignment with European standards. "The activity of the cabinet of ministers I have the honour of leading, as well as that of the colleagues from the ruling coalition, is oriented towards ensuring macroeconomic stability, creating conditions and ensuring safety for investments. Promoting infrastructure modernisation projects is vital for a sustainable economic development. In this regard, we rely on a mutually beneficial effective cooperation", the prime minister said.

The ambassador reiterated the Czech Republic’s support for Moldova and willingness to start new projects in areas such as medical care, energy sector, constructions, agriculture etc. "Moldova is still in the top priority states in terms of development assistance provided by the Czech government. We want to carry out as many joint projects as possible", said the Czech diplomat.

The sides welcomed the organisation of the first session of the Moldovan-Czech intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, which took place in Chisinau between 30 June and 1 July 2015. The officials have called for enhancing investment and trade relations between the two countries.

In the last 12 years, over 50 projects were carried out in Moldova with the support of the Czech Republic, amounting to about 14 million euros. The bilateral development assistance programme for the period 2011-2017 includes the following sectors: infrastructure, agriculture, environmental protection, strengthening the relation between the government and civil society, and others.
