The Belarusian Railway develops a new passenger route Minsk–Warsaw via Grodno
OREANDA-NEWS. The Belarusian Railway aims at making travel by rail within Belarus and abroad more attractive for passengers.
For that purpose, it cooperates with the Polish Railway Lines at developing a new route Minsk – Grodno – Bialystok – Malkinia – Warsaw with a change at Grodno station. The route will be opened in December. The existing route Grodno – Bialystok – Malkinia will be extended up to Warsaw.
The train will depart from Grodno to Poland at 07:06 a.m. and will arrive to Warsaw at 11:29 a.m., bypassing Bialystok (at 08:02 a.m.) and Malkinia (at 09:40 a.m.).
The passengers travelling by interregional trains No. 631, 609, 623, 634, which connect Grodno with Minsk, Gomel, Mogilev and Vitebsk, will be able to change for the train to Poland at Grodno station.
The way back will also be convenient. The train will depart from Warsaw at 06:26 a.m. and will arrive to Grodno at 02:20 p.m. Thus, travelers may choose to go to Minsk at 03:25 p.m., or to Moscow, Vitebsk and Mogilev at 05:18 p.m., or to Saint-Petersburg, Baranovichi and Gomel.
According to the Polish party, a modern rolling stock will operate on Grodno – Warsaw route.
It is planned that a fixed ticket price for the trains travelling on this route will give it a competitive edge in comparison with other means of transportation.
The project is expected to make railway transport more attractive for passengers and tourists.
